After losing to United, Pep Guardiola gives up on the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola acknowledged that Manchester City “cannot” win the Premier League championship this year following their defeat at the hands of Manchester United.

Jack Grealish’s header in the second half gave City the lead and a chance to briefly close the gap on Arsenal with 60 minutes left in the 189th Manchester derby.

Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford scored twice in the final four minutes to complete United’s historic comeback and hand City their first Premier League loss in two months.

Additionally, it is City’s second straight defeat in as many days after their shocking Carabao Cup elimination by Southampton on Wednesday.

The result puts the defending champions five points behind Arsenal, a deficit that could widen if Arsenal defeats Spurs in the Sunday North London derby.

However, following their 2-1 victory over City, United now sits one point behind their regional rivals in third place.

After the match, a visibly irate Guardiola seemed to concede that his team couldn’t win the league championship this year.

He said to Des Kelly on BT Sport, “I don’t care about the Premier League and the Carabao Cup. We cannot win.

“It’s not a problem because we won a lot,”

I don’t regret anything, in general, said Pep Guardiola. No matter what, we’ll try to win the Carabao Cup or the Premier League.
