Akpabio Meets Buhari, Talks About Senate Presidency Ambition

Godswill Akpabio, former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and senator-elect for the Ikot-Ekpene Senatorial District, told President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday in Abuja of his desire to compete for President of the 10th Senate.

According to our sources, Akpabio has committed to work with the new administration to help the country’s youth.

The declaration came shortly after another Senate presidential candidate, Abdulaziz Yari, paid a visit to Buhari and urged the North to provide the next Senate leader in recognition of its substantial contribution to President-elect Bola Tinubu’s victory.

Akpabio discussed his plans if elected to the country’s third highest post.

“I intend to bring a lot of reforms into the Senate, in the way and manner we do business, to help the next administration succeed,” he stated. We shall be very meticulous in everything we do; we will bring about fidelity to the Constitution and loyalty to Nigerians.”

The former Akwa Ibom State Governor indicated that his Senate presidency will address issues that would empower Nigerians, particularly the youth, through legislation.

“With the restiveness that we are seeing across the nation,” Akpabio said, “we’ll do our best to make good laws and to assist the administration in bringing about policies that will empower the youths of the country.”
