Hajiya Naja’atu stated that she chose to withdraw from Tinubu’s campaign in order to continue her fight for a better Nigeria with a clear conscience.
Hajiya Naja’atu Muhammad, a director in the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC), has resigned just one month before the election.
Naja’atu, 67, was the Director of the Civil Society Directorate of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s campaign council.
Her resignation letter, dated January 19, 2023, was addressed to Senator Abdullahi Adamu, National Chairman of the APC.
In the letter, the former national commissioner of the Police Service Commission (PSC) bemoaned the situation of the country, claiming that the problems Nigeria faces compel her to fight for a better country with a clear conscience.
She went on to say that recent political and democratic changes have made it hard for her to continue participating in partisan politics.
“In accordance with Article 9.5 I of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Constitution, I am writing to inform you of my resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC)” (APC). I am also writing to tell you of my resignation as Director of the Civil Society Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
“It has been a wonderful honour working with you to contribute towards the growth of our precious nation. However, given recent events in the country’s political and democratic arena, I am unable to continue to participate in party politics.
“The issues that Nigeria faces today need me to continue supporting the cause for a better country with a clear conscience as I remain fully devoted to my dear homeland Nigeria.
“Please accept my heartfelt gratitude for your leadership as Chairman of the APC.”
